The Phoenix Rescue Mission is requesting community support for its annual Easter Giveaway Event to assist underprivileged families. As reported by ABC15, the organization's goal is to assemble and distribute hundreds of Easter baskets to families in need this weekend, but they are currently a few hundred baskets short. To meet the demand, they are accepting donations of toys, treats, premade baskets, as well as nonperishable food, hygiene products, and household cleaning items.
The essential items for any donated basket include Easter grass, non-chocolate candy, candy-filled plastic eggs, children's books, Bibles, coloring books, crayons, small stuffed animals, and toys. However, due to a shortage of donations, the mission urgently needs these items by Wednesday. Those wishing to contribute can drop off donations between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the mission's warehouse located at 2515 N 34th Dr., Phoenix, AZ, 85009.
In line with these efforts, the Phoenix Rescue Mission previously announced plans for a similar giveaway on March 23rd. According to details from the Queen Creek Sun Times, the mission planned to distribute Easter baskets, hygiene kits, and cleaning supplies to nearly 500 families, totaling approximately 1,700 baskets.
The call for contributions comes at a time when many families are experiencing food and financial insecurities, making it difficult for them to participate in traditional Easter celebrations. The Phoenix Rescue Mission aims for its Easter Giveaway Event to assist those in need during the holiday season.
