Motorists were instructed to head the warning of a Road Ranger who blocked all lanes, guiding them to either move over or slow down to ensure the safety, not just of themselves but the officers on scene.

By the afternoon, the West Palm Beach Police Department had reopened the lanes, with the all-clear given at precisely 12:10 p.m. However, it was not just the motorists breathing a sigh of relief as traffic resumed its regular flow – the police too, after presumably a tense closure for their investigation, were finally able to stand down.
While the cause of the police activity initially remained undisclosed, WPBF 25 News later reported that the closure stemmed from an "active investigation".
