A dog, now named Taylor Swift for her quick escape skills, caused a stir in South Florida this week by dashing across the highway, leading to a traffic standstill and intervention by authorities. The black pocket pit bull evaded Florida Highway Patrol troopers before jumping into the backseat of a patrol car, as reported by NBC Miami.

After the chase, Taylor was taken to the Humane Society of Broward County, where she is awaiting adoption. Dr. Cynthia Rogers, the staff veterinarian, told NBC Miami, "She’s quite a runner as we can see, so she probably needs a home that’s gonna be active, and play with her, take her on walks and love her."

Though Taylor appeared unharmed, her past is more troubling. She was passed from owner to owner and bred for profit. Cherie Wachter of the Humane Society told CBS News Miami, "Her whole purpose was to produce puppies for profit," adding that this cycle has now ended.

The Humane Society hopes Taylor will soon find a loving home. Dr. Cynthia Rogers confirmed, "Considering what she went through she didn't have any apparent injuries, she wasn't limping," to CBS News Miami. Those interested in adopting can visit the Humane Society’s website for a pre-adoption application or go to their location at 2070 Griffin Road, which opens daily at 11 a.m.
