The weather outlook for the San Francisco Bay Area indicates we may be in for a change of pace. According to the National Weather Service in San Francisco, CA, residents should expect "fairly quiet weather" in the coming days along with "a modest warming trend through early next week." However, forecasts suggest a "pattern change" is on the horizon, bringing cooler, cloudier conditions and a chance for light rain towards the latter part of the week.
Today and tonight look similar to recent conditions for those enjoying the great outdoors, with temperatures near normal. But do be prepared for a "weak disturbance" that will quickly move through Sunday, as per the NWS San Francisco. This could increase cloud cover and more moisture, possibly leading to a spread of patchy fog and drizzle.
Regarding longer-term predictions, temperatures are expected to hover above the seasonal average until Tuesday. With gentle to moderate onshore winds, the inland areas of the Bay could see the mercury potentially break the 80-degree mark by Monday. The NWS San Francisco advises that the "minor HeatRisk" associated with the warm weather could be "hazardous to those extremely sensitive to the heat."
The look ahead into the later part of the week suggests a more dramatic turn in weather patterns. A "deep trough" is anticipated to disturb the subtropical high in the eastern Pacific, pulling a cooler air mass down from the northwest and pushing surface temperatures below the norm by Friday. The NWS San Francisco cautions that the "strength and timing of this trough is still uncertain," but the probability of "some light rain" falling Friday into Saturday is becoming more likely to occur.
Supporting this outlook, the National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center has highlighted our area for a chance of receiving above-normal precipitation over the next 8-14 days. Additionally, they project that temperatures during this period may be below normal. The NWS Bay Area is currently predicting "a slight chance of rain in the forecast for next Friday, mainly across the North Bay" to bring some of that anticipated moisture.

Aviation and marine interests should also take note, as the NWS San Francisco indicates that "breezy to gusty winds increase through the day" particularly over the northern outer waters with a building northerly fresh swell. Mariners are advised to stay alert as these gusty conditions are expected to remain through the beginning of the work week and continue to Thursday.
