Seattle City Light's Logan Rusk may have entered the utility's employ just over two years ago, but his enthusiasm for his work and hobbies is still fresh as yesterday. As an equipment servicer in the Fleets division, Rusk ensures the Automated Motor Pool (AMP) Car online reservation system runs smoothly for City Light employees requiring vehicles for their various tasks. When not making sure crews have the wheels they need, Rusk is also there, always ready to jump-start a car, schedule its maintenance, or provide a shuttle service, as Seattle City Light's own website detailed.
While cars are clearly his passion - a love he could talk about for hours, particularly when delving into the art of car shows and the deeper stories behind each vehicle - Rusk's latest venture into skiing seems to have captured his fancy, keeping him longing for the slopes. Despite claiming limited prowess in this new pursuit, on "loop in his head;" when is the next ski trip, reveals Rusk's infectious excitement for new experiences. He's a Washington native through and through, hailing from Kingston, and has not strayed far from the hardworking ethos modeled by his parents, his father a stalwart at Washington State Ferries and his mother shaping minds as a kindergarten teacher.
City Light has proven to be a place of camaraderie and generosity for Rusk. Surprised by "just how kind and helpful everyone is," he told Seattle City Light. This positive work culture stands in compliment to his daily musical motivation, U2's "Beautiful Day," which he listens to almost religiously. It energizes him for the day's challenges, a trait undoubtedly appreciated by those benefiting from his mechanical expertise.
For just one day, if given the choice, Rusk would switch gears to become a racecar driver—a temporary idea he considers without concern for consequences or stress. Although he spends his days shuttling vehicles and assisting City Light employees with transportation, his approach remains consistent and dedicated. His commitment to the role ensures that each task is completed efficiently, making his work an essential part of daily operations.
