A second man has turned himself in connection with the fatal stabbing of Drew Hayden Courtright at a northeast Portland motel last month. Anthony V. Staggs, 54, surrendered to authorities Wednesday on charges related to third-degree assault, in a case that has already seen the arrest of another individual, reported KPTV. Courtright, aged 26, was found deceased on March 21 inside Sojourn Suites on Northeast Airport Way.

The investigation revealed that Courtright was staying with his girlfriend at the hotel when he was attacked. This revelation was according to Drew's mother, Shannon, who detailed to KGW that suspects had to quickly ascertain and then knocked on the couple's door on that morning of the incident. A previous suspect, Mitch Bryan Schoonover, has already been charged with first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and third-degree assault in connection to Courtright's death.

KOIN reports that Schoonover pleaded not guilty to the charges earlier this month and is scheduled for a court appearance in May. The Portland Police Bureau has maintained that the case is still active and ongoing.
