Motorists in St. Bernard Parish should brace for a corrected update regarding travel disruptions. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has issued a revised traffic alert for LA 47/Paris Road, specifically affecting the "Green Bridge" northbound lanes—a distinction from an earlier miscommunication involving the Bayou Bienvenue Bridge.
The revision, shared via a Facebook post from the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office, highlights that the closure will begin on Sunday at 8 p.m. and is expected to conclude the following morning, Monday, at 5 a.m. This closure is necessary for crews to relocate concrete barriers and stripe the roadway as part of a $17.5 million bridge replacement project, with all plans subject to prevailing weather conditions.
In their advisory, the DOTD corrected an error regarding a previously displayed sign that incorrectly indicated a closure for last Friday, which did not occur. The DOTD clarifies that no disruptions took place that day, despite what travelers might have been led to believe.
The public is advised to be mindful of these changes and adjust travel plans as necessary. The DOTD also emphasized the importance of driving safely for the welfare of all parties involved, a message supported by local law enforcement, who routinely call to "keep St. Bernard safe."
