A lucky visitor to Chicago has transformed their Chicago experience from sightseeing to life-changing following a $3 million lottery win. Purchased at Komal Wine and Liquors, the winning ticket has shifted the narrative for this tourist from perusing landmarks to perusing real estate listings.
The newly minted millionaire, choosing to remain anonymous, was set to round off their tourist activities at iconic locations like the Skydeck at Willis Tower and "The Bean" when they happened to purchase the winning FastPlay Ultimate Diamond Jackpot ticket. "I visited the Skydeck at Willis Tower, checked out some filming locations from Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and of course, I couldn't leave without seeing The Bean," the winner stated in an interview obtained by ABC7 Chicago. Their purchase at the store located at 4628 N. Cumberland Avenue, near O'Hare airport, turned out to be serendipitously timed.
The game that has fortuitously altered the tourist's life trajectory, Ultimate Diamond Jackpot, is a FastPlay progressive game that starts at a $75,000 jackpot and inflates with each ticket sold statewide. As reported by Fox 32 Chicago, this year has seen the game produce over 395,000 winning tickets, distributing more than $26 million in prizes.
After uncovering the value of their ticket, the winner was in disbelief. "It was a moment of shock and awe, and I completely froze," they said, according to an interview with Fox 32 Chicago. The timing of the win couldn't have been more crucial, as they now face the need to quickly secure a new home after their landlord decides to sell. "I've been wanting to buy a house for a while, but with how expensive real estate is these days, it just hasn't been possible. Then, I recently found out my landlord is selling the apartment I've been renting, so now I have to move out. I feel incredibly lucky - this win couldn't have come at a better time," the winner relayed in a statement obtained by ABC7 Chicago.
The store that sold the golden ticket, Komal Wine and Liquors, is also to receive a more than $31,000 bonus for its role in this life-changing event. Meanwhile, Chicago adds another story to its vast collection of tourist tales, this time with a turn of fortune at the very heart of it.
