Early Wednesday, chaos unfolded in Auburn Gresham, as a three-vehicle crash led to an arrest and a building collision, according to Chicago authorities. The series of events began just after 1 a.m. when a white SUV reportedly violated a red light and collided with a blue sedan at the intersection of the 2000 block of West 79th Street. The impact pushed the sedan into a black SUV, while the offending vehicle continued its unwarranted journey, finally crashing into a nearby building, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.
The incident escalated when the police, who were in the vicinity responding to a report of shots fired, witnessed the crash scene. According to officers on site, they saw the white SUV careening through the intersection before it crashed into the building near 79th Street and Damen Avenue, information detailed by ABC7 Chicago. Two individuals from the white SUV managed to flee, but a 19-year-old man was not as fortunate; he was apprehended by the authorities and subsequently hospitalized with broken ribs, but he remained in good condition.
Despite the potentially grave circumstances, no additional injuries were reported from the incident. The young man taken into police custody faces undisclosed charges, pending further investigation.
