Phoenix commuters, take note: significant closures are slated for the eastbound I-10 from April 25 to April 28, as reported by ADOT. The freeway will be entirely off-limits between US 60 and Loop 202 during these dates due to drainage and pavement markings work. The shutdown begins at 10 p.m. tomorrow and runs until 4 a.m. Monday, compelling drivers to find alternative routes over the weekend.

The closures also extend to the ramps. The southbound SR 143 ramps to eastbound I-10, the westbound US 60 ramp to eastbound I-10, and the HOV ramps connecting I-10 and US 60 will all be closed. Misadventure looms for those unaware, so be sure to plan around these closures. In addition to these, the eastbound I-10 on-ramps at Broadway, Baseline, Elliot, Warner, and Ray Roads will also be sealed off from traffic, as well as the eastbound US 60 on- and off-ramps at Mill Avenue, according to ADOT.

Detours will be necessary for the duration of the closure. Eastbound traffic is advised to use the Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) or US 60 to connect to the southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway), then to the westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) to rejoin the eastbound I-10. West Valley travelers can alternatively take the Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) from I-10 and 59th Avenue to navigate south and east, reentering I-10 south of Chandler Boulevard.

In the face of this weekend's roadwork, the Arizona Department of Transportation encourages drivers to stick to designated detours and stay updated on any changes which can arise due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. They recommend using the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project’s mobile app, TheCurve, or visiting the Alerts section of the project website for the most current information before setting out.
