Early this morning, a routine patrol by the Worcester Police led to the arrest of three individuals for firearm possession. According to an official police report, at approximately 1:45 AM, an officer spotted a white Honda driving the wrong way on Irving Street, a one-way route. Jadah Putman, who was initially behind the wheel, was seen switching seats to the back as another occupant took over driving duties.
The ensuing confusion didn't help their case. When backup arrived, the trio's narratives about who was seated where and why didn't match up. As the officers approached the vehicle, one noticed an open container of alcohol inside. Further inspection of the Honda revealed a concealed short-barreled rifle with an extended magazine stashed in a bag. As it turned out, none of the car's occupants—Putman, 23, of Fall River; Elvis Julian, 26, of Boston; and Shamia Whitfield, 26, of Dorchester—held a license to carry firearms.
The three were promptly arrested and now face serious charges. As per the Worcester Police Department, they were all hit with counts of Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Carrying a Firearm without a License, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol. Complicating matters further, Putman was also charged with Operating with a Suspended License. To add to the legal woes, it was dug up that Elvis Julian was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant.
