An early morning dispute on the South Side of Chicago turned deadly when a 20-year-old woman was fatally shot in the Greater Grand Crossing area. As reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, the incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. on the 7800 block of South Eberhart Avenue. The young woman was engaged in an argument with a group of females when an assailant walked up to the scene and began to shoot.
The victim was hit in the face, and first responders rushed her to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. As the CBS News Chicago coverage indicates, no other injuries have been reported in the shooting. Despite immediate action by the Chicago Police Department, the gunman managed to successfully flee the scene on foot.
