
A man was shot and killed during an exchange of gunfire with police in Hickory Hills, Illinois, after officers responded to a call about an armed robbery. The incident took place near the intersection of 95th Street and Roberts Road around 8:45 p.m. Thursday night, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times. According to police, the confrontation began when the suspect discharged his firearm, prompting an officer to return fire.
Following the initial exchange of gunfire, the suspect continued to shoot as he fled down an alley, and the officers pursued. He was later discovered in the alley, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. After being transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, the suspect was pronounced dead, CBS News Chicago reports.
An officer involved in the shooting sustained minor injuries and was attended to at a local hospital before being released. Details regarding the officer's injuries or the circumstances under which they were sustained have not been disclosed.
