The City of Bloomington is inviting residents to take part in a series of focus groups starting June 3 as part of the WeAreBloomington branding initiative. The goal is to gather public input on defining the city’s identity and how it should be presented to residents, businesses, tourists, and investors.

According to the City of Bloomington’s official announcement, participants can register for in-person or virtual sessions to discuss topics such as Bloomington’s core identity, attracting and retaining young professionals, and the role of the downtown area. Feedback from these sessions will help shape the city's future branding strategy.

Focus groups include sessions titled What Makes Bloomington, Bloomington? and Attracting and Retaining Young Professionals, offering residents a chance to share their views on what defines the city and how it can appeal to new talent.

In addition to the focus groups, a public survey is available through June 16 on the WeAreBloomington project website. The survey collects input on Bloomington’s character and future goals.

The WeAreBloomington project also includes stakeholder meetings and guidance from a local advisory committee made up of residents, nonprofit leaders, business owners, and others. The initiative was launched following a recommendation from the 2016 Wage Growth Task Force to strengthen the city’s economic position through a unified brand strategy.
