As the day progresses, temperatures are expected to fall fast, a phenomenon coined as a "pneumonia front" by FOX 32 Chicago. With the warmest readings found south of I-80, by mid-afternoon, the city's temperature will have plummeted into the lower 60s and upper 50s, deviating from the earlier warmth.
The outlook for the coming days suggests variability with a mostly cloudy night ahead, accompanied by breezy conditions and lows in the mid-40s. Looking forward, Thursday will cast off the morning cloud cover for a sunny afternoon with highs of 55 degrees, as stated by the National Weather Service forecast.
Friday morning will possibly greet some Chicagoland residents with temperatures in the 30s, signaling the start of a warming trend, as per FOX 32 Chicago. Commencing on Friday, a series of sunny and mild conditions will emerge, leading to highs in the mid to upper 60s, with Saturday seeing mid 70s, and an expected 80 degrees away from the lakefront on Mother’s Day, Monday, and Tuesday.
