
Following a month-long investigation, Chicago Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting that led to the tragic death of a 13-year-old boy. Kemonte Rice, 25, of the 6200 block of S. Western Ave., Chicago, stands charged with one felony count of causing child endangerment/death and one felony count of obstructing justice/destroying evidence, as per the Chicago Police Department. These developments come after the young victim was fatally shot on March 24 in the 500 block of W. 65th Pl. in Chicago's 7th District.
The Chicago Police Department reports that Rice was apprehended by the Area One Homicide Investigative Support Team on May 19 at around 1:16 p.m. near the 8100 block of S. Ashland Ave. Rice's detention hearing was scheduled yesterday at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California Ave.
"No additional information is available at this time," the Chicago Police Department stated.
