According to the official CPD release, a group of over ten young individuals viciously attacked a couple, brandishing a knife and deploying pepper spray to forcibly strip them of their belongings.
The incident, logged under the case number JJ246554, took place on May 7, 2025, at approximately 11:23 p.m., near 608 s State St. The suspects have been described as African American males and females, between the ages of 15-25. This alarming event has compelled authorities to urge citizens to vigorously maintain awareness of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activities immediately by calling 9-1-1. The police also emphasise that individuals should not try to pursue assailants who are fleeing the scene.
