Drivers in Chicago's 19th District should gear up for an increase in police vigilance this coming weekend. According to the Chicago Police Department's announcement, a DUI Saturation Patrol is set to roll out from Friday at 6:00 p.m. until Saturday at 2:00 a.m. The operation is meant to cast a wide net for impaired drivers, with a focus also on speeding, seatbelt use, and other related traffic violations.

In the stats from last weekend’s patrol in the 1st District, the police report zero DUI arrests but handed out a total of 36 citations for various transgressions. These stretched from six unsafe vehicle violations, four insurance violations, to two seat belt violations. There were also seven instances of speeding drivers getting caught. Not to mention a single incident involving open liquor.

For swift enforcement, the Breath Alcohol Testing Mobile Unit may also be deployed, streamlining the process for charging individuals with DUI offenses. This arrangement facilitates the issuance of Individual Recognizance Bonds at the DUI patrol site without the immediate need to transport offenders to the nearest lockup for bonding.
