The long-awaited renovation of the local Metrorail station has reached completion. The updated facility features an array of enhancements targeted at improving the travel experience for Metrorail and Metrobus passengers. Some key updates, according to an announcement on the Miami-Dade County website, include newly remodeled restrooms, the installation of granite benches for added comfort, and an overall modern aesthetic achieved through improved lighting and a fresh coat of paint.
The station now also boasts waterproof tiles, set both on the ground and platform levels, and refurbished elevators, enhancing the day-to-day functionality for riders. However, the upgrades aren't merely cosmetic. Way-finding signage has been introduced, striving to simplify the navigation through the station's various areas for the riders, including the parking garage. While Granite benches awaited riders at every corner, promising a reprieve for the weary, these improvements are just one piece of the larger Grove Central development project, focused on fostering a Transit-Oriented Community.
Officials expressed appreciation for the community’s patience during construction and encouraged riders to “enjoy your new, enhanced experience!” The station now includes waterproof tiles designed for heavy foot traffic, as part of a wider initiative to upgrade public transit spaces citywide, as noted by the same release.
