Community leader and Commissioner Oliver G. Gilbert, III is setting the stage for academic success as he hosts the 17th annual laptop giveaway for college-bound Miami-Dade high school seniors. This event, scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m., aims to equip students with essential technology for their upcoming college endeavors. The giveaway will take place at the Commissioner's District 1 Office, located at 17988 NW 27th Ave., Miami Gardens, FL 33056, as confirmed by a press release on the Miami-Dade County website.
Commissioner Gilbert has a long history of supporting local youth, starting this initiative while he served as Mayor of Miami Gardens. In this year's event, a total of 200 laptops will be distributed, reaching out to students from four local high schools: Miami Carol City Senior High School, Miami Norland Senior High School, Miami Northwestern Senior High School, and Dr. Michael Krop Senior High School. The purpose is to alleviate the financial burden often associated with the transition to college, ensuring that seniors have one less expense to worry about. Students and their families from District 1 are encouraged to participate in this valuable resource.
