A man was found dead wrapped in a blanket at a northwest Harris County home, prompting an investigation into a suspected homicide, according to law enforcement officials. The deceased was identified as a contractor who had been working at the home of the suspect, with the KPRC 2 News reporting an altercation between the two that led to the contractor's death.
Foul play is suspected in the death of the man, whose identity has not been released, as stated by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office discovered the body at a home located at the 4100 block of Tim Allen Court. The exact time and cause of death are still under investigation, as mentioned in a report by FOX 26 Houston.
Adding to the unfolding of events, a stranger was reportedly enlisted by the suspect to help move furniture. This stranger, upon moving a box, discovered the body and attempted to flee the scene in the victim's truck. In a chaotic escape, the suspect, trying to stop him, jumped into the back of the truck, breaking the windows as they drove, leading to an eventual crash, injuring the suspect. The witness, who saw the body, is not anticipated to face charges, and the details were provided in an interview by authorities, according to KPRC 2 News.
Authorities were also alerted to the presence of a bleeding man found at the nearby 3700 block of FM 1960, who was later identified as the suspect from the previous incidents and subsequently hospitalized. This same individual had been involved in a suspicious person call, which was one of several calls that were reported around the same time as the discovery of the body, and is believed to be related to the attempted escape by the stranger. Charges are expected to be filed against the suspect following an interview by detectives. A neighbor spoke to the suspect previously, who recalled the suspect "started talking about God and that same thing he did. Couple of months ago. And I'm thinking, well, that's great. Glad to see you have a job and whatever. So he drives, he acts like he's talking on the phone. And he says, I gotta go. So he left," the neighbor told KPRC 2 News.
At the scene, a woman who identified herself as the homeowner was detained but later released. She claimed to have been at work during the incident and unaware of what transpired, stating that her boyfriend was present at the home where a bathroom renovation project was underway. The body is not believed to have been at the home long, with law enforcement speculating that the events leading up to its discovery all transpired within the previous day. Surveillance video acquired by KPRC 2 News reportedly captured the moment the stranger discovered the body, further intensifying the perplexity of the case.
