Over the weekend, a daring high-speed chase unfolded on the I-80 San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge when California Highway Patrol (CHP) San Francisco officers attempted to intercept a motorcycle pack, one rider, who particularly caught their attention performing dangerous stunts amidst the flow of unsuspecting drivers. According to CHP San Francisco, it was last Saturday evening when the routine of our highways was pierced by the roar of a black Kawasaki, its rider's brazen act of popping a wheelie marking the beginning of an episode that would push the limits of public safety.
The motorcyclist, clearly underestimating the seriousness of the situation, ignored emergency signals from a CHP motor sergeant and tried to flee into the city streets near the Port of Oakland. The sergeant, along with two other CHP-SF officers, gave chase.
The sergeant oversaw the pursuit while the other officers took lead and support roles. What began as a simple traffic stop quickly turned into a full chase. After weaving through city streets, the motorcyclist stopped, narrowly avoiding a dangerous outcome.
