The City of Deerfield Beach is rolling out a new set of programs designed to introduce the city’s youngest residents to the world of sports. The Department of Parks and Recreation has announced the launch of Super Tots, a four-week sports program catering to children aged 5 and under, with an array of activities planned to keep the tots active and engaged.
According to the city's announcement, the Super Tots program includes Hoopster Tots, catered to budding basketball enthusiasts, Soccer Tots, for those who want to kick around, and Hockey Tots, which aims to introduce children to the ice. Each program is tailored to refine each child’s motor skills and sense of teamwork, while also ensuring, they have a good time.
The Hoopster Tots sessions are split into two age categories and will take place on Mondays at the Johnny L. Tigner Center. Children ages 2-3 will have their session from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM, followed by a session for ages 4-5 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM. Soccer Tots is scheduled for Tuesdays at Constitution Park, also with two sessions: one for 18 months to 3-year-olds from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM and the other for 4 to 5-year-olds from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM.
Hockey Tots, which focuses on crucial hockey skills like passing and shooting, will occupy the youngsters on Wednesdays at the Highlands Community Center. Two back-to-back sessions, from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM and 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM, are set for those who are 4-5 years of age. Parent participation is not just encouraged but required for children who are 3.5 years or younger, as detailed by the city's official website.
Non-resident families will be shelling out $115 while residents can enjoy a lower fee of $88. Those interested in signing their tots up for the program should take note of the May 12 registration deadline. Along with the fee, children are expected to dress in comfortable, sports-appropriate attire.
