Deerfield Beach is embracing its past while planting seeds for the future with a new Centennial Community Garden. To honor the city's 100th anniversary, officials have announced the garden's creation at Oveta McKeithen Park, located at the corner of SW 3rd Avenue and SW 2nd Street.

The garden's layout includes sidewalks and a central circular feature, which will represent the city's ten decades of history—each slice of the circle a physical representation of ten years in Deerfield's shared story, according to a City of Deerfield Beach release.

Scheduled to be a collaborative project, the City plans to dig deep into the community’s roots by distributing a survey. This survey is meant to canvass residents for their input on the significant events and milestones that have shaped the community over each of the last ten decades.
