An early morning blaze at a Davie Catholic school resulted in significant damage to a storage shed adjacent to the school and also affected part of the school building itself. The fire was reported around 4 a.m. at Saint David Catholic Church School, which is situated at 3900 S. University Drive. Davie Fire Rescue teams responded to the emergency call, as reported by Local 10 News.
Upon arrival, firefighters quickly engaged the flames which had enveloped the shed, and found that the fire had spread into the wall of the school. There was no mention of any injuries sustained during the incident. In the wake of the destruction, school officials decided to close the school yesterday as a safety measure, with plans to reopen today, according to details from WSVN.
The cause of the early morning fire is currently under investigation by the authorities. While the exact origin of the fire remains uncertain, officials emphasized that the primary blaze started in a shed and then proceeded to travel into the school’s structure.
While the damage to the school's wall is being assessed, the main concern for many remains the potential cause of the incident, the outcome of which is yet to be disclosed by fire officials. Meanwhile, students and staff are awaiting official updates regarding the extent of the disruption and the measures that will be taken to ensure the school’s safe operation going forward.
