A tragic incident unfolded on Sea Vale Street in Chula Vista yesterday afternoon, where an elderly woman lost her life in a solo vehicle crash. A press release from the Chula Vista Police Department detailed that at approximately 1:39 P.M., their officers and Chula Vista firefighters hurried to the scene after reports of a collision.
Preliminary findings suggest that the vehicle was heading westward on the 200 block of Sea Vale St when it veered off-road to collide with a palm tree, striking it. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of kin. While investigations continue, at present, impairment from drugs or alcohol hasn't been considered a contributing factor. The cause of the collision remains a subject of ongoing inquiry.
Efforts to rescue the female driver, described only as elderly, were ultimately fruitless. After being transported to UCSD Medical Center, her injuries proved fatal. The community’s thoughts and support are likely to gravitate toward her family during this difficult time as the law enforcement works to unpack what led up to this fatal moment on an otherwise quiet street.
