Heads up, Fort Lauderdale residents: Bayshore Drive is getting a makeover. Starting Tuesday, June 10, the City of Fort Lauderdale, in collaboration with All County Paving, will kick off the Bayshore Drive Asphalt Improvement Project. According to the city's announcement, the project scope includes milling and resurfacing asphalt, along with applying new pavement markings, covering the stretch from north of Vistamar Street to N. Birch Road in Central Beach.
For those who regularly navigate this area, plan for some slight delays—construction is slated to run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and is expected to wrap up on June 13. In the likelihood of bad weather or other unpredictable events, work may extend into the week of June 16. One lane in each direction within the work zone will be closed during these times, and traffic control staff will be on the scene to direct the flow of cars, just be sure to follow their signals and the posted signs, as detailed by the City of Fort Lauderdale.
Residents along Bayshore Drive should be aware that parking will be prohibited during work hours due to ongoing construction. While driveway access is expected to remain largely unaffected, there may be brief periods of limited entry or exit. Construction crews have assured that they will coordinate with residents in advance before any temporary driveway blockages occur.
The city has extended its apologies for any disturbance the upgrades may cause and is asking for the community's understanding during the process.
