In Fort Lauderdale, the water main break at NE 56th Street and NE 14th Avenue has been repaired, and the road is now fully open. The city's repair crews remedied the issue overnight, and while they were at it, they also restored the asphalt in the affected area. This quick turnaround is sure to be a relief to those who were detoured and delayed by the unexpected break.
To ensure public safety following the repairs, the City has issued a precautionary boil water notice to a handful of nearby properties. As for the traffic, with all lanes now reopened, the flow of cars should return to its usual rhythm along NE 56th Street. The area had been restricted since the leak was reported on Tuesday, with the eastbound lane closed between Dixie Highway (NE 12th Avenue) and NE 14th Avenue.
The water main break, which surfaced yesterday, led to the immediate closure of the eastbound lane, with city officials posting detours around the affected street. An update on the City of Fort Lauderdale's official website stated that “Crews will return at 9:00 PM to begin repairs,” ensuring that the restoration work was set to be carried out with a sense of urgency. “We appreciate the patience of our neighbors while this emergency work was completed,” reads a statement from the City.
