In a recent verdict that brings a measure of justice to the victim, Bailey Matrix has been sentenced to a total of 20 years after being found guilty of Domestic Battery, Attempted Obstruction of Justice, and Invasion of Privacy. According to a social media post from the Hancock County Prosecutor's office, Matrix will initially serve ten years in the Department of Correction, with the rest suspended.

Prosecutor Brent Eaton highlighted the persistence of Matrix's attempts to control his victim, which did not cease even during his incarceration. "This case really highlights the lengths to which some defendants will go to maintain power and control over their victims," Eaton stated, pointing out how the perpetrator continued to try and illegally reach out to the victim while behind bars. The vigorous work by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department’s Jail Investigation Division was crucial in bringing these additional charges to light, compounding the sentence that Matrix would face.

Matrix's initial arrest by Greenfield Police back in April 2024 came after he assaulted his girlfriend in a Wal-Mart parking lot, resulting in her hospitalization. The nature of the injuries she sustained met the legal criteria for "moderate injury," as per Indiana law, leading to the felony Domestic Battery charge and a related misdemeanor, carrying a combined maximum sentence of two and a half years.

However, while at the Hancock County Jail, Matrix attempted to further evade justice and continued to harass his victim. The Jail Investigation Team unearthed evidence leading to additional counts of Attempted Obstruction of Justice and Invasion of Privacy. These findings enabled the prosecution to secure an extended sentence for Matrix, far surpassing the initial maximum. "The diligent work of the jail investigation team allowed us to be able hold this violent offender accountable for the crimes he committed while he was incarcerated and significantly increased the duration of his sentence," Eaton said in a statement.
