Hoffman Estates has seen the closure of a chilling case that's been unsettling the community since last year. On May 22, 2025, Devin Roldan-Brossett, aged 21, was arrested by the Area Five Homicide Support Team and detectives; this arrest comes more than five months after a 38-year-old man was fatally shot in Chicago's 25th District, as announced by Chicago Police Department's press release.
Roldan-Brossett, who hails from the 1300 block of Newcastle Lane, faces a first-degree murder charge. Police apprehended him in the 10000 block of W. Balmoral Ave., and a warrant has been issued for his alleged crimes. The investigation has picked up pace since December last year, when the shooting occurred on December 12 at approximately 7:47 p.m., along the 4000 block of W. Fullerton Ave.
With evidence sufficient for police to place Roldan-Brossett in custody, he now awaits a detention hearing scheduled for today at the courthouse on 2600 S. California.
