In a late-night bust that led to the seizure of narcotics and illegal weaponry, the Holyoke Police Department scored a tangible victory against local crime. Police Chief Brian Keenan shared the detail on a social media post from the Holyoke Police Department, confirming the apprehension of a suspect and the confiscation of a concerning array of outlawed items.
The incident in question unfurled at approximately 12:25 a.m., when Officer Edward Guerrero, performing a standard property check at 456 Maple Street, startled two individuals into a flight of evasion. Inside a confirmed vacant apartment, Guerrero encountered an individual, ski mask-adorned, seemingly poised for dubious activity. With the reinforcements of Officers Michael Chatel and Jose Millan, they forestalled the escape of a second suspect, Geruis Rodriguez-Tejada, who in his attempted defenestration discarded three bags of suspected heroin.
Following the tense encounter, Officer Jonathan Frost discovered a book bag linked to Rodriguez-Tejada, which hid a stash replete with over 100 rounds of ammunition, two 9mm firearm magazines, a gun barrel indicative of a 9mm firearm, and a knife—the tools of harm, hidden away, now in the hands of the law. Geruis Rodriguez-Tejada, a 28-year-old resident of Holyoke, now faces multiple charges including possession of ammunition without an FID Card and possession of a Class A drug on a subsequent offense, among others.
