Huntersville Bridge Scheduled for Temporary Closure Due to Maintenance Work. The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has announced that the McCoy Road bridge over Torrence Creek will be closing down on May 19 to allow for upgrades to the structure's timber deck, according to a town's announcement.
Drivers who use this route will need to follow a detour for approximately three weeks, depending on weather conditions. The detour will direct traffic along McIlwaine Road, Beatties Ford Road, Bud Henderson Road, and Gilead Road before returning to McCoy Road. Motorists are advised to account for potential delays and temporary changes in traffic patterns.
The NCDOT is conducting this project to address the structural integrity of the bridge and ensure it meets safety standards for future use. Such infrastructure work is part of ongoing efforts to maintain transportation routes that support community connectivity.
