The Indianapolis Colts are entering a period of transition with a familiar leadership dynamic at the helm. The daughters of the late Jim Irsay—Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Kalen Jackson, and Casey Foyt—are stepping up to guide the team following the passing of their father. Well-versed in the operations of the Colts, the Irsay sisters have been primed to run the team, each bringing their distinct areas of expertise and familiarity with the organization to the table.
Carlie Irsay-Gordon, the eldest, has been a visible figure, deeply engaging with the football side of the Colts' operations. She's known to be actively involved in team meetings and practice sessions, often seen on the sidelines engaging with coaches and players. She has seemingly prepared to seamlessly continue the legacy of her father with hands-on involvement that has won her the respect and confidence of the team. As reported by the IndyStar, wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. said about the sisters, "That’s something you don’t really see. You don’t really see owners asking players directly, ‘How can I help you?’ I feel like that’s what makes them different."
Meanwhile, sister Kalen Jackson has taken a prominent role in the Colts' philanthropic efforts, which includes community events and outreach initiatives. Sports Illustrated noted the consensus among players and coaches, voicing full support for the Irsay sisters. According to what DeForest Buckner told the IndyStar, "Kalen’s also amazing, with everything in the community," signaling confidence in their leadership.
The third sister, Casey Foyt, although less directly involved with day-to-day operations, has developed experience in special events and marketing, rounding out the trio’s comprehensive grasp of the organizational needs. The Colts organization has not released an official statement on the new distribution of responsibilities among the sisters, but WTHR highlighted the long-term active roles that each sister has held in the franchise.
Carlie's in-depth knowledge of the game shines through in her interactions, said wide receivers coach Reggie Wayne in a press conference captured by WTHR, "She'll even come and give you a pop quiz sometimes, so you’ve got to make sure you’re not asleep in those meetings."
As the Colts move forward, it seems clear that the blueprint for the future has been laid out for some time, with the sisters fully prepared to uphold their father’s legacy.
