A case of road rage escalated near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport when a man was recorded aiming a gun at a woman and her daughter. According to the CBS News Miami report, the suspect, identified as 40-year-old John William Morici, was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
The altercation occurred on April 29 as the woman was trying to leave the airport. She attempted to change lanes, which is when Morici allegedly sped up to prevent her from merging. The tense situation continued as she ended up behind Morici's black Dodge Durango. He then is reported to have suddenly hit his brakes, forcing her to quickly switch lanes to avoid a possible collision. As she passed the Durango, her daughter began to record, catching Morici in the act of pointing a black handgun at them.
Morici is scheduled to appear in bond court, according to a WSVN report. The incident took place around 7 p.m. near the 300 block of Terminal Drive. The Broward Sheriff's Office has released video footage and was quick to arrest Morici following tips from the public.
"As you can imagine, this was a terrifying ordeal for the victim and her daughter," BSO spokesperson Gerdy St. Louis told CBS News Miami. After noticing the cellphone, the man quickly concealed the weapon and drove off toward South Federal Highway.
