Peoria Police are investigating a carjacking that took place Saturday night in South Peoria, where a man allegedly stole a vehicle at gunpoint. The incident, which sent officers to the 600 block of South Western Avenue shortly before 8:10 p.m., ended with the car abandoned a short distance away on the 800 block of West Hulbert Street, as reported by 25 News Now.
The driver, whose name has not been released, was approached by an unknown male who demanded his car while brandishing a firearm. In a statement obtained by 25 News Now, the driver claimed he was not injured during the altercation.
As of now, the authorities have yet to apprehend the suspect, as there is no description available, and no arrests have been announced, as per Central Illinois Proud. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
