The city of Marietta has been named the Most Generous City in the United States by GoFundMe for the year 2024, featuring a national recognition it seems to have comfortably claimed. This is not the city's first time to top these rankings; it's the third instance of Marietta claiming the number one spot, and the city has consistently stayed in the top three for six consecutive years.
In response to this achievement, Marietta and GoFundMe are set to jointly host a community celebration on May 30 during the Glover Park Concert Series at Marietta Square. Mayor Steve "Thunder" Tumlin encapsulated the local pride, stating, "Being named the Most Generous City in America is a reflection of the spirit that makes Marietta so special," in a statement obtained by Marietta’s official website. The Mayor continued to praise the city’s compassion, “Our residents consistently show up for one another with compassion and generosity. We are proud of this national recognition and grateful to celebrate our community together on May 30th.”
The celebration will commence at 6:00 PM, right before Canyonland, led by Michelle Malone, takes the stage to provide an evening of auditory delight. Attendees can expect to partake in giveaways, strike a pose at the photo booth, and engage in various interactive activities. The concert and festivities are free and open to the public.
