In observance of Memorial Day on Monday next week, Mecklenburg County government offices and services will be temporarily closed. This includes the Department of Social Services, the Valerie C. Woodard and Ella B. Scarborough Community Resource Centers, Public Health, Elections Office, the Tax Collector and Assessor’s Offices, Register of Deeds Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency, as per the Mecklenburg County website.

Mecklenburg County Solid Waste Centers will also be closed. However, residential waste collection may still operate in the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County towns. Residents should check with their local service providers for specific schedules.

Park and Recreation facilities will follow a modified schedule. Recreation Centers, Senior Centers, and Nature Centers will be closed, but Parks and Nature Preserves will remain open.

Emergency services will remain available. The Department of Social Services hotlines will operate 24/7. To report abuse of seniors or disabled adults, call 704-336-CARE (2273). For reports involving children, neglect, or human trafficking, call 980-31-HELPS (43577).
