Memphis Braces for Unpredictable Weather: Showers, Thunderstorms, and Warmth on the Horizon

The National Weather Service in Memphis has forecasted mixed weather conditions for the upcoming week. Starting cloudy today, Memphis residents can expect a slight chance of showers with highs hovering around 71 degrees and northeast winds of 10 to 15 mph, according to the NWS report. Gusts could reach up to 25 mph, with a meager precipitation likelihood of 20%.

Tonight, the weather is taking a turn. There is a 70% chance of precipitation, featuring showers and possible thunderstorms before transitioning to likely showers and potentially a thunderstorm later on. With the mercury dropping to around 59, troubled by the unpredictable gusts, the northeast wind persists at 10 to 15 mph, and rainfall amounts could vary, reaching higher levels in the occurrence of thunderstorms.

The forecast suggests that Memphis should brace for more showery conditions on Sunday and heading into the work week. There is an 80% chance that showers and thunderstorms will punctuate the day, disturbing the otherwise clouded skies. High temperatures near 76 will accompany east winds around 10 mph, possibly culminating in new, albeit minimal, rainfall amounts, unless thunderstorms escalate the figures.

The showers and thunderstorms are forecasted to continue into early next week. Monday, in particular, maintains an 80% chance of precipitation across showers and thunderstorms, with highs expected near a comfortable 75 degrees. As winds shift from calming east southeast to southerly directions in the afternoon, awaiting showers could drop additional rainfall ranging from a tenth to a quarter of an inch, barring any intensifying thunderstorm activity.

A brief respite comes on Tuesday with only a 20% chance of thunderstorms and warmer conditions approaching 80 degrees. By mid-week, forecasters predict a sunny transition, with temperatures soaring to near 87 on Wednesday.

As the week progresses, the warmth is set to intensify further with highs climbing to an almost heady 90 degrees by Thursday. Despite mostly sunny days, night-time conditions on Thursday and Friday could bring partly cloudy skies, and the week might ultimately end with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, complementing partly sunny highs in the high 80s.
