The morning commute took an unexpected turn on the Southwest Side Friday morning when a Metra train collided with a stationary truck, leading to significant delays and disruptions.
According to WGN-TV, the incident occurred around 8:45 a.m. at the intersection of 87th and Pulaski when a white truck was struck. Fortunately, the truck was unoccupied, and there were no reported injuries on the train.
Service on the Metra's Southwest Service line was heavily impacted, with trains, including #808 and #810, coming to a standstill. While the train due into downtown at 8:32 a.m. was affected, the following train #810 ultimately stopped at Chicago Ridge, as detailed by FOX 32 Chicago. Both trains were back on the move later, but passengers faced waits, with delays extending up to 55 minutes.
