An Amazon delivery driver found himself on the wrong side of the law after allegedly stealing packages he was supposed to deliver in Miami-Dade County. Local 10 News reports that 32-year-old Adrian Barrera was arrested for grand theft after being caught illegally dumping boxes in a Lowe's parking lot at 9191 SW 137th Ave.

According to the police, Barrera was not just tossing aside empty cardboard boxes. Instead, the boxes – still bearing Amazon's labels and the addresses of individual customers – were found emptied of their contents, which he then allegedly kept inside his truck. Furthermore, Barrera faces additional charges of littering and possession of a controlled substance, with around one gram of crystal meth discovered in his vehicle, as NBC Miami notes.

Barrera, working for a third-party contractor for Amazon, picked up 13 pallets of products estimated to be worth about $45,000 from a distribution center, he intended to deliver the goods to various Amazon locations across Miami-Dade and Monroe. Instead, it appears, he had a different plan for the merchandise, authorities explained.

When the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office deputies arrived on the scene they witnessed Barrera engaged in the act of dumping the boxes before taking him into custody. Upon searching the truck, deputies found crystal meth inside a container in the front door side pocket. He was subsequently booked into jail, standing before a judge, "who set his bond at $10,000," reported NBC Miami.
