
Authorities in Miami-Dade County have made an arrest in a near four-year-old homicide case, marking a somber resolution to a cold trail of events that commenced on a night meant for jovial celebration. The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, Homicide Bureau announced they apprehended 39-year-old Antwane Demon Johnson, in connection to the fatal shooting of Rennard Walker, age 49, back in August 2021, according to a recent press release.
Reports back to August 29, 2021, indicate that officers responded to an alert of shots fired at approximately 1:30 A.M. in the east lot of the Golden Glades Park & Ride, where they found Walker with multiple gunshot wounds, shots were fired striking the victim without provocation as he exited a private party bus from a family celebration. Despite prompt intervention from the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, Walker was pronounced dead at the scene.
The complex investigation led by detectives leveraged various means to identify Johnson as the suspect; they brought him into custody with the assistance of the Homicide Street Violence Task Force and the Special Response Team. He was arrested without incident and faces charges of second-degree murder with a weapon, alongside firearm possession by a convicted felon, as detailed by the county's press release.
