Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins recently added a new accolade to her list of achievements—the Distinguished Public Service Career Award. Last Friday, the Builders Association of South Florida (BASF) recognized Higgins for her leadership and contributions to the region’s development. The award ceremony, held at the citizenM Hotel in Miami, brought together various stakeholders to celebrate Higgins' commitment to sustainable growth.
Higgins, who represents District 5, has been instrumental in advancing key infrastructure projects, including public transportation and affordable housing. Her unique background, consisting of an engineering degree and an MBA from Cornell University, has allowed her to tackle the region's challenges with both technical know-how and strategic vision. According to a statement from Miami-Dade County's official website, BASF commended Higgins for her role in fostering long-term sustainability and enriching Miami-Dade's quality of life.
