A shooting in Miami's Little River area left one man dead and another detained by police yesterday afternoon. Miami Police and Fire Rescue units responded to the intersection of Northwest 71st Street and Fourth Avenue. The man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and later succumbed to his injuries at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center according to WSVN.
The incident, which remains under investigation, has to yet to publicly unravel the full narrative of the circumstances that led up to the shooting. It was reported that a child was also present in one of the vehicles but was not harmed. The alleged shooter, who claimed it was a self-defense situation, remained at the scene and is cooperating with officers. According to reports, he was captured by NBC Miami, police handcuffed the man and escorted him into a police vehicle.
Detectives recovered three firearms from the scene. While the full details around the shooting were not immediately clear, law enforcement has closed off the area surrounding the incident and recommended drivers to seek alternate routes.
