Miami Metromover Adjusts Service Hours for Major Upgrade Project Starting June 2025

Starting June 1, folks who rely on the Metromover for navigating Miami will need to adapt their schedules. Miami-Dade County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) plans on tweaking service hours for this elevated transit system to press forward with an expansive upgrade project, according to an official announcement.

Miami’s Metromover will reduce its daily operating hours to allow for system upgrades. Trains will begin running at 5:30 a.m. instead of 5 a.m., and service will end at 10 p.m. instead of midnight. Officials say the shorter schedule will help speed up improvements aimed at boosting safety and reliability. While the new Metromover schedule may affect early commuters and late-night riders, the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) says service hours will be extended for special events. The nearly 40-year-old system, in operation since 1986, is undergoing major upgrades as part of a project that began in summer 2022 to improve safety and reliability, as detailed by the Miami-Dade County release.

The DTPW expects the Metromover upgrades to bring several key improvements: more frequent service, reduced wait times, greater flexibility during major events, and a smoother, safer ride overall.
