Authorities in Miami are currently on the lookout for a man involved in a physical altercation that took place at a local Walgreens store. The incident, which transpired in Miami's Brickell neighborhood, involved a verbally aggressive customer and 68-year-old Manuel Casabielle—who recently underwent heart surgery—who attempted to intervene, as per 7News.
The confrontation escalated when the man shoved Casabielle against the store's metal shelves, causing him bruises. Casabielle, who was at the Walgreens located at 200 SW 13th Street in Miami to pick up his medication, intervened after the man became loud, animated, and began cursing and becoming increasingly aggressive towards the cashier. According to Casabielle's account to Local 10, the assailant had been involved in similar incidents at the same Walgreens in the past.
Surveillance footage from the store shows the man taking hold of Casabielle by the neck before pushing him, proving the victim's inability to defend himself effectively after his recent operation. Following the attack, the subject fled the scene before the arrival of the police, who are now utilizing the footage as part of their investigation.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Casabielle expressed to 7News that "he wasn’t looking for a fight and was only at the store to pick up his medication after he underwent heart surgery a few weeks back." However, his greater concern is for the safety of others, citing that something should be done to prevent the man from potentially harming someone else. The aggressor, described as being in his 40s with a stocky build, remains unidentified, yet Casabielle is confident in an imminent arrest.
Meanwhile, Miami police urge anyone with information or recognition of the man from the video to contact them or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
