
A traffic mishap over the holiday weekend in Valencia Park has left a young motorcyclist with a serious leg injury, San Diego police confirmed. According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred yesterday at approximately 3:01 PM.
According to the police account, the accident took place at the 300 block of 54th Street when a 21-year-old woman, maneuvering a Yamaha YZF-R3 motorcycle, attempted to join southbound traffic on 54th Street. Exiting a driveway, the rider misjudged her turn and collided with the stopped Chevy Trailblazer waiting at a red light, driven by a 41-year-old man. The motorcyclist, exiting a driveway too quickly, could not properly negotiate the left turn.
The rider suffered a fractured femur in the incident and was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment. The San Diego Police Department has confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the collision. The San Diego Police Traffic Division is investigating the precise causes and circumstances of the crash.
