A Nashville man is fighting for his life following a pre-dawn collision involving his electric bicycle and a Toyota Camry on Thursday. Thinh Pham, a 63-year-old resident, was identified as the victim critically injured in the accident that took place on Old Hickory Boulevard, according to the official report by Nashville authorities.
The initial investigation suggests Pham was riding his e-bike north in the same lane as the vehicle, which was also traveling north, when the crash occurred around 5 a.m.; both parties were heading down the boulevard where the car, operated by 59-year-old Robert Becker also of Nashville, made contact with the back of Pham's e-bike and according to a statement provided by Becker he was attempting to adjust the car's temperature settings, which led to a momentary distraction preceding the incident. Pham is currently under intensive care at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The authorities have ruled out any form of impairment for both the driver and the cyclist at the scene.
