The Metro Nashville Police Department has publicly released harrowing footage of a shootout that occurred between a suspect and law enforcement officers. In a statement obtained by WVLT, the confrontation began when an officer spotted 29-year-old Tadarius Hunt and ensued a pursuit. Footage from Officer Clayton Lewis's body camera, a 9-year veteran, captured the intense exchange of gunfire wherein he sustained a graze wound to his leg.
Subsequently, Hunt was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Officer Lewis, after receiving medical attention, was expected to be released from the hospital later the same day. During the chase, spotted first by an officer's patrol car, Hunt was deemed the aggressor by Metro Nashville Police Department which led to this fatal outcome, according to WVLT.
Meanwhile, in a separate but equally tragic incident, Nashville police also reported a self-defense shooting that left one man dead. As detailed by WSMV, an individual identified as Green, allegedly fearing for his and his girlfriend's safety, fatally shot Judkins prior to contacting emergency services.
The analysis of the self-defense claim in this second shooting is currently under investigation, and FOX17 reports that no charges have been filed against Green at this time. In the midst of acknowledging his and his girlfriend's safety, Green made the decision to engage resulting in Judkins's death, prompting a detailed inquiry by the local authorities.
