Two teenagers have found themselves in the grip of the law, implicated in a scheme of auto theft that seems as brazen as it is foolhardy. On Monday night, an investigation that started with the keen eyes of a vigilant sergeant from the D-Detail, led to the arrest of Hilario Carreon-Vazquez, 19, and Austin Moore, 18. The pair, according to the Nashville Police Department's website, evinced a transaction involving a Dodge Charger reported stolen, which planted them squarely in the path of the law.

Detective work paid off when the sergeant noticed the stolen vehicle parked just outside Carreon-Vazquez's address, the D-Detail sergeant watched as Carreon-Vazquez and Moore exchanged what appeared to be cash, after which Carreon-Vazquez departed in a different automobile, this moment was the beginning of the end of their fleeting enterprise. A helicopter from the police department trailed Carreon-Vazquez until officers could halt his journey, during which he confessed to selling the Charger to Moore for $1,500, the statement on Nashville Police Department’s website detailed that a loaded handgun and $3,400 in cash were also found in his possession.

Moore, who was driving the stolen Charger, attempted to evade law enforcement when officers tried to apprehend him. The pursuit reached high speeds and concluded when officers deployed spike strips, bringing the vehicle to a stop. Moore was then taken into custody along with Carreon-Vazquez. Each of the youths faces charges of vehicle theft, with Moore also receiving an additional charge for evading arrest.
