The City of North Miami is set to unveil the Lucia Martinez Gonzalez Tot-Lot with a festive ribbon-cutting ceremony tomorrow, celebrating both the memory of a local luminary and the city's commitment to creating engaging spaces for kids. Vice Mayor Kassandra Timothe, alongside the North Miami Housing and Social Services Department and the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (NMCRA), will host the event at the North Miami Public Library from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
According to an announcement on North Miami's official website, the ceremony will feature family-centered attractions including a live magician, face painting, and an array of games set to entertain attendees. In her statement, Vice Mayor Timothe conveyed her personal connection to this project and her excitement: “I am beyond excited to finally bring this project to completion.”
The honorary name for the tot-lot pays tribute to Lucia Martinez Gonzalez, whose stewardship as the former Director of North Miami Public Library left a lasting impact on the community. The newly constructed play area boasts a safe and inviting environment, complete with a climbing apparatus, a slide, and a swing set.
